Toronto: Memorial Dinner for Rudi Dorn 2011

Paul and Joan, with Harry Boyd and his wife Lynda, gave a small
memorial for the great CBC designer from the Golden Years
of Canadian Television, Rudi Dorn. He passed away earlier this year.
Rudi’s sketches and designs illuminated some great designs and plays:
At top a two-hour Julius Caesar, second row: Macbeth
with Sean Connery and Zoe Caldwell, below:
The Hill, Paul’s teleplay repeated on CBC and on BBC.
Paul was pleased to invite Margaret Dorn, Rudi’s wife.
Paul talked to the distinguished director, Eric Till,
who joined CBC in 1957, only four years after Paul.
John McGreevy, a former director at CBC who worked with Rudi.
Pater Garstang, who chose and ran the very first
stage crew at CBC TV in 1952.
Eric Till talks to David Gardner, artist, actor, director, theatre head,
Canada Council exec in charge of theatre, man of so many talents,
who just lost his lovely Scottish wife, Dorothy,
who had been Paul’s script assistant.
Michael, Rudi’s son, and John McGreevy.
Our hostess, Lynda Robinson Boyd.
