Via Rail: Toronto-Ottawa 2010

Aah, Viarail! How lovely to look forward to four hours
of peaceful relaxation on my Viarail trip from Toronto
to Ottawa, after three hard days. Photo by Lois Siegel

The baggage comfortably stored behind the netting...

...settle into the wonderfully comfortable

reclining Via1 seats

with fr
ee Internet...

...and when you get tired of that, free newspapers.

Then, if you get tired of surfing the net and reading, watch
the farms speeding by out the windows -- a constantly
changing panorama -- which you sure don’t get on an airplane.
If you want to discover Canada, sit on a train.

Pretty stewardesses who serve free drinks of course, even

TWO cocktails if you're in the mood. And then, when you

get hungry, two dinner services: one at 5, and one at 6.

The choice of three entrees and, of course, a good

Canadian wine with dinner and - especially - after dinner,

digestifs, brandy, Grand Marnier, whatever you want.

If you book three days in advance, a Business
(now called “Via1”) ticket is only $5 more than
an Economy booked the same day.
So plan ahead, and go like me on Viarail.
